KKBOX is Taiwan-based music streaming and download service, which has been operating since October 2004. KKBOX has dealt with a significant number of international and local labels in South-East Asia.

Service Type

KKBOX offers music through streaming.

The existing Service consists of the following elements:

Premium Service

Abacuos: A paid-for subscription streaming service, featuring audio and video tracks but which does not feature advertising, available both to non-portable and mobile devices allowing unlimited streaming and offline plays of tethered downloads. Access to and the ability to ‘play’ tethered downloads lapses after the applicable end user’s subscription ends. The Premium Service is offered as a daily, weekly and monthly package.  It is also offered as a “Monthly Committed Plan” to long-term customers who subscribe for  at least 12 months at a discounted retail rate; and

Sponsored Premium Service

Enables a user to receive access to the Premium Service for up to two hours provided that the user has undertaken a certain action (such as watching an advertisement video, playing a sponsored online game or filling out a questionnaire).

Go Live Time

It takes 7-10 business days for content to go live in KKBOX.

Pay rate

Paid Streams: When a subscriber streams your music, you get paid a proportionate share of KKBOX’s subscription revenue per month calculated on terms set out in our agreement with the store (this usually excludes streams during a subscriber's free trial). Payments will fluctuate each month, depending on the amount of subscription revenue generated and how often your music was streamed.
